The venue for this special event is the historic Butokuden, a designated Important Cultural Property of Japan. Traditional Japanese martial arts are attracting a great deal of attention around the world. Among them, the spirituality of karate (KARATE) attracts many people, and it is said that there are approximately 130 million enthusiasts around the world. An event where karate fans from all over the world can fully experience the charm of karate will be held in Kyoto in the winter of January. As part of martial arts tourism, the All Japan Karate Federation will hold a karate exhibition for the first time. Through various kata demonstrations, people from Japan and abroad and a wide range of generations will be able to enjoy the greatness of karate. We offer a special opportunity to feel close to Japanese martial arts at the historic Butokuden Hall, which is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

In addition, we offer a wide range of options, such as a "Special Experience" or "Pair Accommodation (with hire car)" depending on your preferences and budget. The "Special Experience" plan includes a karate training experience at the dojo.

Those who participate in the two-day tour from January 23rd to January 24th will have the opportunity to perform in the Rising Sun Karate Spectacle, and those who participate on January 25th will have the opportunity to attend a workshop taught by an Olympic gold medalist.

In addition to the tickets and special experience, the "Pair Accommodation (with hire car)" plan also includes accommodation (for up to two people) at the Westin Miyako Kyoto, which was awarded a "Recommended" rating in the Forbes Travel Guide 2024, the world's leading travel guide that rates hospitality. Viewing the exhibition at the Butokuden, a national important cultural property (common to ①, ②, ③, ④)

exhibition will feature Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Ryo Kiyuna! The Butokuden, the venue for the exhibition, is a facility that embodies the spirit and techniques of traditional Japanese martial arts. Along with the historic building, it will provide a special and memorable experience.


[Special Experience] Karate Workshop + Performance on the Butokuden Stage (Common to ② and ③) 

training will be held over two days. It is a program that can be enjoyed by beginners to advanced practitioners, and you can learn the "way" of karate. And, you will be able to demonstrate the techniques you learned in the workshop on the exhibition stage on the 24th.

You can take part in a special workshop taught by Olympic Gold Medalist Ryo Kiyuuna.

Purchase Notice

  • Cancellations after registration will be accepted up until January 17th. After that date, cancellations, changes, and refunds will not be accepted under any circumstances for customer reasons after the event registration has been completed. Event fees will not be refunded even if you are barred from entry or kicked out due to nuisance behavior. The organizers will determine whether or not a nuisance has occurred.
  • If you are forced to transfer your event participation rights to a third party, please be sure to contact the organizer by the day before the event to inform them of the recipient and your contact information after the transfer. If you transfer your rights without contacting us, you may be denied entry. In addition, any problems that arise as a result of the transfer must be resolved between the parties involved. The organizer will not bear any responsibility.
  • If the event date and time needs to be changed due to the organizer's circumstances, except in unavoidable circumstances such as natural disasters or epidemics, the organizer will, in principle, contact you by email or the method specified by the organizer before the event date. At that time, we will confirm again whether you can participate, and if you are unable to participate, we will refund the event fee in full. Please note that unless the organizer contacts you to change the event date and time or cancel it, it will be considered a cancellation due to customer circumstances and no refund will be made.
  • If the event is cancelled due to reasons of the organizer, except in unavoidable circumstances such as natural disasters or epidemics, the organizer will, in principle, contact you by email or a method specified by the organizer before the event date. In such cases, the event fee will be refunded in full. However, unless the organizer notifies you of a change in the event date and time or cancellation, the event will be considered a cancellation due to customer's circumstances and no refund will be made.
  • If the event is canceled due to earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis, storms, floods, epidemics or infectious diseases, other natural disasters, war, riots, civil unrest, terrorism, industrial action, strikes by third parties, the establishment, amendment or repeal of laws and regulations, orders or dispositions by public authorities, fires beyond the control of the organizers, or other force majeure, the event fee will not be refunded.
  • Seat reservation is not possible.
  • [Viewing only] Preschool children are free, but please make sure to hold them on your lap.
  • The target age for the [Special Experience] is 13 years old* to 60 years old. *Please be accompanied by a guardian.
  • If you are participating in the [Special Experience], please wear comfortable clothing.
  • We do not allow pets to enter the venue (except for guide dogs, service dogs, and hearing dogs).
  • Photography is permitted, but the use of a tripod is prohibited.
